
NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING AND PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD FOR PROPOSED REPEAL AND REPLACE OF ALLEGHENY COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT RULES AND REGULATIONS ARTICLE III (FOOD SAFETY) Allegheny County Board of Health The Allegheny County Board of Health will hold a public hearing on Thursday, January 20, 2022, at 5:00 PM to take testimony on the following proposed repeal and replace of Allegheny County Health Department Article III (Food Safety): Article III (Food Safety): Article III outlines Allegheny County Health Department's authority to permit and inspect food facilities within Allegheny County and establishes food safety standards for local food operators. ACHD proposes the first comprehensive revision to Article III since its enactment in January of 2000. The proposed revised Article III would: - Align Allegheny County food standards with those found in Commonwealth of Penn- sylvania regulations; - Promote efficiency for Food Safety Program operations and permitting, including streamlining the food facility classification system; - Incorporate FDA Model Food Code language to promote clarity and consistency; and - Address the regulation of new and emerging issues in the food service sector, including shared kitchens, self-service food facilities, and food donation. The proposed revised regulation and information on how to view or register to speak at the hearing will be available on the Board of Health's website at: https://alleghenycounty.us/Health-Department/Resources/About/Board-of-Health/Public-Meeting-Schedule.aspx. Details regarding the location of the hearing will also be added to the Board of Health's website closer to the hearing date in January 2022. Those who wish to present testimony must register no less than 24 hours in advance of the hearing. Testimony is limited to 3 minutes.
